What exactly do we do?

Solid Ground Engineering offer a variety of consulting services that include but are not limited to the following:

1. Structural Analysis of Residential and Light Commercial Buildings SGE provides consulting engineering services to assist current or prospective owners with the determination of the current condition of structural components. The assessment may be completed as a part of a real estate transaction or at any time there is concern with a building component.

2. Design of Repair for Structural Component If a structural problem exists, SGE will provide the most feasible and economical solution to stabilize and reinforce the building's components.

3. Construction Management SGE serves to protect the client’s investment during the repair or construction process. We are suited to oversee and provide written documentation of the repair on construction process.

4. Design of New Structural Components SGE provides design of new components that include but are not limited to foundation and framing systems. We also design new decking, patio, and retaining wall systems.

5. Expert Witness Services For the legal industry, SGE provides expert witness services regarding flaws or issues with building construction or component installations. SGE’s professionals provide definitive conclusions by way of detailed reports that address issues such as the cause and origin of damage/failure and the scope of damage related to a specific item or event.

7. Insurance Claims Support For the insurance industry, SGE provides consulting engineering services to assist with the claims process. Primarily this includes aiding claims adjusters with difficult individuals, circumstances that may exceed the adjuster’s expertise, and accessing areas or conditions that may require equipment or time that the adjuster may not have. SGE’s professionals provide definitive conclusions by way of detailed reports that address issues such as the cause and origin of damage/failure and the scope of damage related to a specific event. Examples of projects SGE can assist with include but are not limited to storm-related damage to roofing/exterior surfaces (hail, wind, lightning, flood, etc.), impact damage (tree, vehicle, etc.), fire damage, water damage, structural damage or failures, soil movement/landslides, sinkholes, mine spoils, litigation and feasibility of repair/replacement.

   SGE is primarily focused on personal relationships and client service. We prioritize our client’s needs and generally complete site visits within a week of receiving the order, reports (depending upon the situation and investigation) are generally completed and delivered within 72 hours of the completion of the site visit.

8. Manufactured Home Inspections SGE can inspect and report on any or all components of manufactured homes.

9. Permanent Foundation Certification of Manufactured Homes SGE can complete inspections of manufactured homes to verify that homes meet FHA and Hud guidelines of a permanent foundation.

10. Full Home Inspections

    SGE completes full home inspections for existing owners or potential buyers. All home inspections are completed per the standards set forth by the West Virginia Title 87-05 - Certification of Home Inspectors Certification of Home Inspectors
